Summary 16-06-2012

Pumas lost both games, 1st team lost  56 22 away to Jarrow and development team lost
70 18 at home to miners.  1s team game started off badly  after one of our starting props came off with
a broken nose when one of the oppositions players head hit him in the face.
Too many mistakes from a young inexperienced team trying to play too much
rugby in the wrong part of the field gave the opposition too much goo field position
to launch attacks from close range.   Did
well to score 4 tries and compete for the middle 40 minutes but an incredible
amount of frustrating decisions from the referee lead to the pumas having one
player sin binned for decent then another sent off meaning the Young Pumas side
had to play almost half the game with 12 men.
Fatigue in the last 10 minutes lead to some easy run ins for the Jarrow
side who are coasting in this league this year and by far a dead cert to win
the league and the grand final at a canter.

The Development team took on 2nd placed miners
and competed well for long periods but, again another young inexperienced side
who are building for the future the same as the first team made too many
mistakes with the ball in hand and turned over possession in the wrong part of
the field.  With very few big forwards to
take on the visitors up front the injuries mounted and the pumas fell away in
the last 15 minutes and allowed the miners to run in some easy tries who showed
why they are 2nd in the division from long range but still plenty to
build on the youthful pumas set up.

Average age across both teams was 19, but still 40 people
turned out to play for the Pumas this weekend which is excellent performance
for the Newtown club.
