DEVELOPMENT SIDE FINISH 3RD IN LEAGUE

PUMAS DEVELOPMENT SIDE WIN 26-84 AWAY TO MINERS

The Pumas Development side just in their second fullcompetitive season travelled to Ashington to play miners RL.   The home side were 3rd in the table with the Pumas guaranteed a 4th spot finish regardless of the result but had a chance to steal 3rd at the last.  The young pumas had suffered a heavy defeat to the miners earlier in the season shipping over 70 points although most came in the final quarter when the team were tired and had run out of subs they had managed to compete for most of the game and had felt the score had flattered the opposition but travelled in determined mood.

The Pumas were quickly on the score board and were 3 tries up before Miners hit back under the posts on the back of some complacent defending but the Pumas were putting their wide game together well and were able to get the ball wide at every opportunity on the back of some good go forwards from the Pumas pack.  Scoring steadily though out the first half the Pumas were annoyed to have conceded further 2 tries but were up to 40
points and played the second half the same as the first running up a total of 84 to finish Miners 26 Pumas 84.  Second Row John Malcolm also finished the season off in style breaking the clubs try scoring record by getting a
brace during the game and taking his total to 22 tries for the season.
