PUMAS AWAY TO FEATHERSTONE

Peterlee travelled to Featherstone in good hart, having
considered themselves unlucky to lose at home to Coventry two weeks before
owing to some intercept break away trys catching the Pumas back line out when
attacking the team felt that they had done enough to win the game despite
coming out on the losing side once again.

Featherstone had just managed to nick the win against
Peterlee previously at Helford Road with a last minute try but the young Pumas
side who have improved well beyond any sort of form they ever put in whilst competing
at the top of the North East League for so many years took too long to get
going. Featherstone were 24 0 up in the first 15 minutes and Peterlee
just couldn't get hold of the ball. When they finally did, they more than
matched the home side all over the park in a very tough physical and bruising
game, 5 scoring chances went begging the closest being scrum half Jack Adamson
who dropped the ball diving over the line and the Pumas failed to convert
several other chances during the half also.

The second half was almost identical to the first, the home
side went wide at every opportunity and played some good rugby with the Pumas
dealing with everything up the middle but need to work on the fringe
defence. Peterlee took their total of scoring chances up to 10 with Prop
Chris Nicholson being held up over the line and winger Boawe Rankin soaring in
the air above everyone to collect high cross field kick but was held up also.

Full time 58 0 to Featherstone, nan of the match scrum half Zac Mcluskey, the score seems harsh score
considering the way Peterlee are now playing but still lots to work on for
promotion chasing Blackbrook away next week.

Peterlee are still recruiting at all ages and although the
season is almost over with only 2 games left for the open age, the junior
section goes into the playoffs in the next week or so and the work to build and
recruit for next season starts now also.
